According to a recent MReport article, more homeowners are current on their home payments. The latest data from Black Knight stated that just 2 million homeowners are behind on their mortgage loans or are in some stage of foreclosure. This record breaking mortgage delinquency score of 3.2% is the lowest to ever be recorded. According to the report, delinquencies fell a little over 5% month-to-month and are down roughly 14% over the year. Also, the study found that while delinquency rates fell month-to-month, foreclosure starts rose by 8.35%. However, foreclosure start rates are down 14.74% on an annual basis.

WHAT ELSE DID THEY FIND?

The states with the highest percentage of non-current mortgage loans are Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, West Virginia, and Arkansas. The states with the lowest percentage of non-current mortgage loans are Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California. The report stated, “Just as with the top-ranking states for non-current loans, all five of these states experienced declining rates of non-current loans over the past year. For all of these states, the change in the non-current loan rate was in the double-digits”.
