MReport released an article discussing data that Urban Institute collected about veteran households in America. According to the statistics from the article, roughly 78% of veteran households are homeowners. This percentage is higher than both the total population and non military households. The MReport stated that 42% of active-duty servicemen own their home. The study found that 87% of active-duty servicemen over the age of 55 are homeowners as well. The lowest percentage of homeownership is the age group between 18 and 34 of active duty servicemen. Only about 28% of this age group owns a home.
WHAT ELSE DID THEY FIND?
According to the MReport, “Active servicemen do have the highest median income at $71,000, which is followed by veterans at $66,800. The average income for non-military members is $58,000”. The Urban Institute reported that there are 19 million veterans living in the United States. Also, they found that Tampa Bay is the best city for veterans to live. Tampa has a healthy economy, employment opportunities, and a good quality of life. Florida has the top two cities for veteran income growth- Orlando and Hialeah. A few other notable cities are Austin, Raleigh, and Scottsdale.
