According to a recent MReport, a survey was conducted by Matterport about the use of technology when buying or selling a home. The survey found that a majority of buyers and sellers would switch to agents who utilize technology for home tours. Matterport surveyed 2,000 property buyers and sellers about the use of 3D house tours. Roughly 80% of the people surveyed said they would switch to an agent who uses virtual tours to buy and sell. Naturally, Millennials and Gen Z respondents were overwhelmingly in favor of the 3D tours. Around 83% of Millennials and 94% of Gen Zs reported that they would switch. Of the Gen Xers that were surveyed, only 63% responded that they would switch to use 3D tours.
WHAT DID THEY FIND?
“An immersive 3D experience is what buyers and sellers want—and it pays off. Properties sell 20% faster and close up to 9% higher price with a Matterport 3D tour,” said Jay Remley, Chief Revenue Officer of Matterport. Many of the respondents agreed that having a virtual tour of the home increases the competitive edge of a listing. Of the buyers that were questioned, 92% of them reported they would be more likely to buy a home that had a virtual tour available. According to the data collected, 3D tours of homes may be the future of buying and selling homes.
