According to an MReport article, Las Vegas is the most sought out city to move to. Zillow conducted a study that looked at non-local web home searches, and found that 60% of them were researching homes in Las Vegas. Roughly 17% of the searches originated from Los Angeles, California. Another 2.5% of the searches were from the Riverside area in California. Jacksonville, San Antonio, and Raleigh were also searched often by a large amount of people. Zillow reported that significantly less people searching for homes in Chicago and New York.
WHY ARE PEOPLE MOVING?
“Americans tend to be mobile, regularly seeking out new homes in an effort to balance career opportunities, family needs, and the kinds of lifestyles available in our diverse country,” said Zillow Economist Jeff Tucker. Zillow researched local home searches as well. They found that the highest amount of local home searches were in St. Louis and Detroit. A Redfin report revealed that the Willowsford neighborhood in Ashburn, Virginia, was the top area to watch in 2020. The Redfin Chief Economist, Daryl Fairweather, believes that the affordable housing crisis is leading people to seek for homes in areas they hadn’t considered before. He also stated that because the economy is doing well, people are more comfortable moving.
